Information for Local Business Leaders
Dear Business Leaders,
Please see the release below from our office outlining the budget agreement struck between Governor Christie and the Legislature. This budget upholds the principles identified by Governor Christie when he first introduced his budget in March by not raising taxes, guaranteeing a balanced budget that will begin to restore New Jersey’s fiscal health and providing a foundation for long-term reform.
The final budget closes an unprecedented $11 billion shortfall without raising taxes, yet still maintains a healthy surplus and reduces spending to sustainable levels.
In the end, Governor Christie and the Legislature identified $74 million in additional cost-savings that restores funding to programs aimed at protecting the most vulnerable New Jerseyans, providing for our students and preserving our states cultural and community resources.
Attached to this email you will find a fact sheet on the final budget, in addition to the press release below. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to let me know.
